Lyrics Let Me Roll It Paul Mccartney & Wings
Lyrics Let Me Roll It Paul Mccartney & Wings – Paul McCartney has been hailed as one of pop’s greatest geniuses on his 80th birthday. A new box set of three studio solo albums from 50 years ago proves that this musician was more than just an “ex-Beatle”.
Glastonbury at the end of June could be the biggest triumph of a truly successful career. More than 100,000 young fans cheered Paul McCartney on as he turned 80 on stage at the Great Pyramid Festival.

Distinguished and beloved guest appearances by American superstars Bruce Springsteen and Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) completed the belated birthday celebration of an incredibly mainstream British music icon.
Mccartney At 80
There was frequent talk back and forth about the “X-Beatle” – a somber cut after a successful career that outlasted the “Fab Four” by more than five decades. Now, as a follow-up to the Paul McCartney Festival 2022, comes the checkbox. Designed by American painter and printmaker Ed Rush, the vinyl/CD set once again showcases the unique qualities and stylistic range of the Liverpool singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
“McCartney I/II/III” includes three studio albums of the same name from the 1970s, 1980s and 1920s, during which the master wrote, produced and recorded. These records mark important milestones in McCartney’s career: another new beginning after the breakup of The Beatles (“McCartney I”), the end of the successor group Wings (“McCartney II”), as well as a musical farewell. The corona-pandemic period accelerated his creativity and now the very old man joked about “rock down” (“McCartney III”).
If you want to listen to these three albums with different artistic backgrounds at the same time, you have to be prepared for a colorful mix. There’s everything from the casually arranged songs of the early 80s youth group “Bethelemania” to the electronic experiments of the nearly 80-year-olds, to age-appropriate songwriting pop.
The 35-song set begins, fittingly, with a declaration of love to McCartney’s new wife, “Dear Linda.” And it ends with “Winter Bird/When Winter Comes”, which can be understood as the end of the winter of a long, intense life. Tucked away in between are a few songs and instrumentals unrelated to the overall work, but include “Every Night” and “I May Be Surprised” (1970), “Coming Up” and “Waterfall” (1980). “Women. And Wives” and “Feeling Deep” (2020).

McCartney’s first solo album was met with skepticism and rejection in April 1970 – just days after the Beatles’ departure, it shocked the world. There is no country adaptation of 13 shorts from the mid-1960s with the pop art work of the “Fab Four”. Meanwhile, the debut was well received as McCartney’s boldest departure from the beaten track as a composer and arranger.
In a recent YouTube interview with NPR, McCartney told radio icon Terry Gross (“Fresh Air”) that he was “very traumatized” after John Lennon’s split from the Beatles. As someone says: The factory will be closed. He wondered if “we would ever get back together, and when we didn’t, we were out of a job.”
You can hear that confusion on “McCartney I,” and some things still sound half-baked to this day. “I didn’t know what to do.” I had no other idea but to continue with another band,” he admitted under cross-examination. “How do you do that after the Beatles?” How could I be doing what I’m doing now with the Beatles, all these great talents?
After consulting with his wife Linda, he saw only one option – “to start like the Beatles: with the crowd, with small concerts in small clubs”. And with today’s solo debut, “Little,” LoFi charms with charm. “You can hear me in the room – with the sound of the door opening on the first track,” McCartney now jokes in his album notes. This was the beginning of a series of “homemade, own recordings”.

With its flat synth sounds, “McCartney II” received little criticism in 1980, but reached number one in the UK charts. “He felt like a mad professor in his lab,” McCartney recalled.
Another 40 years later, Bob Grand Sr. achieves great success with the melodic and production-technological brilliance of Lockdown’s solo work “McCartney III.” Unlike its predecessors, it was immediately celebrated all over the world. You believe that every word “Sir Paul” says with gratitude: “I’m very happy that I’m still enjoying making music.”
A little later, in an interview with NPR, he was again the eternally happy boy from Liverpool: “Hey, I can’t believe I’m a grandfather.” I’m only 25 years old, I’m old. I trust my birth certificate. It must be fake.” For a long time he felt small – as a person and as a musician.
The “McCartney I/II/III” box set will be released on Friday (August 5) on “limited edition color vinyl”, black vinyl and three CDs from Universal. All editions have three photos of Paul McCartney and liner notes on each album. Ed Rush (84), a renowned American painter, graphic artist, photographer and filmmaker, took care of the design of the cover and typography.
